O hambúrguer, apesar de encarado como uma instituição norte-americana, chegou a esse país pelas mãos de imigrantes alemães, vindos dos arredores de Hamburgo. A história deste bife de carne moída tem início no fim do século XVII, quando tribos nómadas da Ásia Ocidental desenvolveram a técnica de temperar a carne de vaca, finamente picada, a fim de evitar a sua decomposição. A iguaria teve bastante aceitação, uma vez que dispensava a utilização do fogo nos acampamentos.

The hamburger, although it is faced like an American institution, arrived to this country by the hands of German immigrants coming from the region of Hamburg. The history of this ground beef piece has begun in the late 17th century, when nomadic tribes from West Asia developed the technique of seasoning the finely chopped beef in order to avoid its perishing. The delicacy had a lot of acceptance, since it dispensed the handling of the fire in the camps.
